About Us

Portsmouth CCG

We are responsible for commissioning a wide range of NHS services for people who live and work in the city of Portsmouth.

Our CCG covers the whole city area, including Southsea and our boundaries match those of Portsmouth City Council. The area has 13 GP practices, each of which is a member of the CCG.

We were one of the first CCGs in the country to be authorised, and became a standalone NHS commissioning organisation from 1st April 2013.

Increasingly, our CCG seldom works alone - our relationships with partners in the city and beyond are vital to our ambition of ensuring Portsmouth residents get the best care and support to help them live as healthily and independently as possible. The Health and Care Portsmouth agenda is a central element of the drive to improve both NHS and social care across the city.

We were pleased to be awarded the title of NHS Alliance’s CCG of the Year. In addition we were pleased to win the HFMA Efficiency and Innovation Award for our work with member practices in commissioning as well as being recognised by the Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy as Governing Body/Board of the Year. And finally we were delighted that our former Clinical Leader Dr Hogan won the top national prize in the NHS Leadership Awards 2014 in the community leader category.
