Winter health and care event
22 January 2019

Local health and care organisations in the Portsmouth area are joining forces this week to host a winter health and care event.

The informal event will take place in the Cascades shopping centre in central Portsmouth this Thursday (24 January). Anyone in the area on the day is welcome to drop-in for information about a number of health and care services and new initiatives. There will also be opportunities to talk to stall holders on the day about a wide range of issues to do with local health care and find out more about how they can help you to stay well during the colder months.

Dr Linda Collie, chief clinical officer for NHS Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Increasingly we are working much more closely with lots of different local organisations to deliver effective and appropriate services.

“We want to ensure people receive the best possible care at the right time and in the right place and events like this help us to promote some of our initiatives to members of the public and talk to people to hear their thoughts and views too.

“We have a real mix of services and initiatives, provided by the local NHS Portsmouth City Council, Care UK and some of our voluntary partners, such as Age Concern, planning to be there on the day and we hope that, if this is successful, it will be the first of a number of similar events.”

Stalls will be in place from 9.00am until 5pm to share information about initiatives such as HIVE Portsmouth, a project bringing people together to build a happier, healthier and more connected city, the St Mary’s Urgent Treatment Centre, dementia support and wellbeing advice. You can also get your hands on your free Urgent Care Guide which outlines all of your options should you need NHS help in a hurry.
