The Priorities Committee operates as an advisory body to the eight Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Southampton, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. Its role is to provide them with evidence based, carefully considered recommendations in the form of a Priorities Statement.
It aims to make recommendations, using an agreed Ethical Framework and taking into account stakeholder views, on the appropriateness of commissioning and funding of selected healthcare interventions (e.g. specific treatments, procedures and care pathways). Portsmouth CCG then considers each recommendation and adopts the recommendations where applicable. The Priorities Statements, once adopted, form part of the CCG’s commissioning policies.
