Organisations across the NHS continue to do all they can to manage demand for services while reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
We are reminding people that if you have a minor injury or illness, please do not attend the Emergency Department (ED) at Queen Alexandra Hospital (QA). Use one of the options below –there is alternative help available 7 days a week.
Social distancing measures remain in place that reduce our waiting space so please only attend if it is an emergency. You may be redirected to an alternative service if you attend ED with a minor injury or illness.

KEEP ED FREE FOR EMERGENCIES
Our Emergency Department remains open but it is for serious and life threatening conditions. If you or someone you know is experiencing a medical emergency you/they can still attend our ED or alternatively please dial 999.
Medical emergencies can include:
Call 999 immediately if you or someone else is having a heart attack or stroke. Every second counts with these conditions.
Also call 999 if you think someone has had a major trauma, such as after a serious road traffic accident, a stabbing, a shooting, a fall from height, or a serious head injury.
IMPORTANT
If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature or a new, continuous cough), please do not attend the Emergency Department or any of these other services. Check what to do here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
